Furman Game Guide

Virginia Tech vs. Furman

Time: 1:30 p.m.
Date: Saturday, Sept. 6, 2008
Place: Lane Stadium, Blacksburg, Va.
TV: None (ACCSelect.com)

Last Meeting: Virginia Tech beat Furman, 20-6, in 1947 in Blacksburg.

Trends: The Hokies are 0-1 after losing to East Carolina last week...The Paladins are 1-0 after beating Mars Hill last week...the Hokies have won their last 12 home openers...their last loss in a home opener came in 1995 when they lost to Boston College, 20-14.

What to expect: The Hokies take out the frustration of their opening loss on the Paladins and win convincingly...they'll return to Virginia Tech football and pound the ball against the Furman front seven...I think at least four backs will get carries (Evans, Lewis, Oglesby, Williams)...you might not see Cheeseman if he isn't healthy enough...hopefully the Hokies will tackle better in this contest than last week.

Hokies win if: They don't beat themselves.

Paladins win if: The Hokies pull a Michigan-vs.-Appy-State-Type choke job.

Dot-dot-dots:
This is the fifth time in the last six seasons the Hokies have faced a I-AA team...William & Mary's three points in last year's game are the only points a I-AA team has against Virginia Tech in that time...the one season in the last six the Hokies have not played a I-AA team was 2005 when the Hokies played only 11 regular season games...the Hokies will wear all white throwback jerseys and helmets and auction them off to benefit Frank Beamer's charity, Herma's Readers, which promotes reading in Virginia schools.

Completely dissapointed by last week!! I really didn't even think carolina stood a chance. I was verry shocked! Quarter back could have played better! Let's hope the loss to carolina pisses them off enough to tear up the field this week.

Can't wait till Georgia tech game.
hahaha...love seeing the faces here when my HOKIES beat them!

Let's get 'em boys!!
